An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat. An ECG gives two major kinds of information. First, by measuring time intervals on the ECG, a doctor can determine how long the electrical wave takes to pass through the heart. Finding out how long a wave takes to travel from one part of the heart to the next shows if the electrical activity is normal or slow, fast or irregular.
Second, by measuring the amount of electrical activity passing through the heart muscle, a cardiologist may be able to find out if parts of the heart are too large or are overworked. The test is often performed by a technician who will place stickers on your arms and legs and over the front of the chest. The stickers are then connected to separate wires or leads that connect to the ECG machine. Once the leads are placed, the test is recorded in seconds.
In India there have a huge number of people who are not aware about electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) and many of them are poor to poorer as they neither can understand their heart condition properly nor can they are doing their medical checks up through efficient physician , for this reason we were doing electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) through free medical camp check up and tried our best to make aware of them about their heart condition as they can take necessary steps for their health
An electrocardiogram may show:
- Evidence of heart enlargement.
- Signs of insufficient blood flow to the heart.
- Signs of a new or previous injury to the heart (heart attack).
- Heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias).
- Changes in the electrical activity of the heart caused by an electrolyte imbalance in the body.
- Signs of inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart (pericarditis).
we use it to help our patients identify the best heart treatment options and plan for them. All tests and tools, including EKG / ECG / Electrocardiography, are part of a larger philosophy of care, working to identify the best cardiac care program for each unique individual.
